Tossed between writing letters to Congressmen and our local newspapers in this vicious, turbulent era we are bumping through, I always come back to my fiction. My hope is that through my stories and characters, I will allow readers to experience life in a way that will expand them and make them better people. If I can help them connect with a character and the emotions or struggles he or she goes through, maybe I can subtly urge them to see the people in their daily lives differently. It has been said that one of the best ways to teach empathy is through stories. My hope is that my stories achieve this, and in some small way, I help the world be a better place.
The Purpose for What I Write
Published by Patty's Parlance
Always in search of an adventure, I set off in my post college days to student teach in Dublin, Ireland, followed by travels across Europe to Israel when my mother insisted I come home to California and start working. Two years later, I joined the Peace Corps where I met my husband, while serving in Lesotho, Southern Africa. That was over 39 years ago, and when the real adventure began. Our three children are avid outdoors people and occasionally are patient enough to invite their mother rafting, hiking, climbing or mountain biking. If not outside, I work on the arduous task of becoming a writer, my lifelong dream. Hopefully, I have improved since my childhood when I'd beg my mother to publish my poems. How could she have resisted the Poet with a Toet, or Who Knows What A Nose Can Do? View all posts by Patty's Parlance
